The new Sir Frank Whittle memorial sculpture in Millennium Place was unveiled Friday 1st June 2007, on the 100th anniversary of Frank Whittle's birth in Coventry.
This specially commissioned bronze statue, by the sculptor Faith Winter, commemorates the life and work of Sir Frank Whittle, inventor of the jet engine, who went to school in Coventry, and lived in Newcombe Road in Earlsdon. Hornton Masonry Company were commissioned by Coventry City Council to produce the plinth for the statue to stand on.

“Just a few lines to thank you for all your hard work and patience regarding the above project.
The City Council is very pleased with the end result which enhances the square and is a fitting tribute to Sir Frank Whittle. I should be grateful if you could pass on my thanks to your masons, who made such a beautiful job of the plinth for us.”

Architectural Technician
